Description/Blazon
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: "Argent, issuing from a point embattled in base Sanguine, a phoenix wings displayed Sable enflamed Tenn; a chief concave Azure (Oriental Blue)." Attached below the device a tripartite Silver motto scroll inscribed "SUBPONA PER INCENDIA" in Oriental Blue letters.

Symbolism
The phoenix symbolizes the survival and development of the Third Special Troops Battalion and the special skills gained from combat, to give the battalion fighting capabilities forged in the fires of war. The embattled base of the shield represents security and acting from a position of strength. Black denotes power and solidarity, oriental blue refers to Military Intelligence; dark red for sacrifice and orange signifies courage and represents the Signal Corps.
